With a good project kick off you can ensure you're looking at succeeding from the start. The Project kick Off meeting galvanizes the project into something everybody can visualize, focus on and understand. It announces that the project is real, scheduled and is a key contributor to the overall success of the business.

1. Ensure you have all the key representatives there from each functional area or department who will be responsible for delivering, maintaining and using the product or service your project will produce. Ensure your sponsor is there, the more senior the representation the more weight will be given to the value of your project.

2. At the meeting clarify the benefits that your project will bring, provide the vision of the outcome so people can see and feel it and get excited about it. You want the meeting to generate enthusiasm and avoid the idea that is just another thing to do in an already busy day.

3. Use the meeting to ensure everybody knows how they are involved and when and most importantly to see their acceptance of their involvement.
