Change Management
Simple and effective Change Management will keep you on target
How you manage change to requirements or specifications on your project will be dependent on many things. With big projects, change becomes more formalized, on smaller projects delivery may be more flexible. You should define a way that works for you, your customer and those delivering the project.
1. As a project manager you need to be aware that your customer has lot at stake in the outcome of your project, both personally and professionally. You need control, decisions and clarity, they need flexibility, understanding and coaching.
2. It's possible for you to deliver a project on time, to budget and within acceptable quality criteria and still have an unhappy customer! So manage and listen to their expectations continuously throughout the project. Be sensitive to changes in the environment into which your project is delivering.
3. Get the best possible definition of requirements you can at the beginning of the project and also the benefits the project is intended to bring. How stable do they look? What will it take to get an agreed design and how much will the customer need to be involved? Define a simple Change process that will keep control and visibility of delivery from start to end.
